Spider-Man Homecoming

So Spider-Man Homecoming is out, I haven't seen it yet, but like many have been looking forward to it. When we saw the appearance of the new Peter Parker in Avengers Civil War, I definitely think it was the best portrayal of the character in the films thus far.

Like many, I have an issue with how the MCU just decides to make up new scripts and not simply stick to the great stores laid down. For example Peter Parker should be much older in the Civil War, which speaks on particular developments of the character in itself. For the fact that they've had to rehash the story of him when he first gets his powers I think speaks volumes. If Sony and Marvel just stuck to the original script there would be a great number of films by now, not the feeling of 'Let's start again.'
Also I find it quite a disrespect to the writers of the original stories. Then as a fan, a child who grew up reading these stories I want to see these great stories come to life.
But anyway, we have a new suit, a new take on the character and I'm pretty hyped.

JEBA X BOXEM X JEZBER

A couple months ago I met up with BOXEM and JEZBER in Barcelona to paint. A great opportunity with a great spot in a neighbouring town. Boxem came up with the Voodoo concept, and it was great to meet JEZBER who is apart of a crew who are linked to one of mine.

Pure Savage

Well this is a late pst and piece from April, but I'm catching up!!
I generally pride myself on designing my own characters and painting my own characters. That's just where my mind is at. But obviously like any artist I have influences that I draw upon daily. So in regards to the question that I get asked many a times being "Who influences you?", out of many comic artist Joe Vriens is one of them. His style and energy in his work is vivacious. I really admire the weight on his characters, and his grasp for muscular anatomy, combined with the use of shadows to draw out the bulkiness of his characters.

P.S is one of my crews and I like doing crew pieces every now and then, but I figured a great way of combing a character of this weight into the letters.

GHOSTWRITERS X LILLE (Cont)

Here's some more action in Lille following on from the Big 8 competition. A lot of painting was done and a lot of paint was used.

INKUES

I thought it was time to put those pens I won from the BIG 8 competition into use and practice some colour renders.
I've been meaning to do a render of a portrait I saw of INKUES from CT, a great DJ, photographer, barber and writer, one who I had the honour of meeting and painting with when I went out there many years ago.

GHOSTWRITERS X BIG 8 COMPETITION- LILLE 17

Last weekend myself and Kaes attended the Epsilone BIG 8 Graffiti Competition in Lille. A trip that has been planned for the last month and a half we were very excited to take part. KAES with more experience with this as this was my first graffiti competition.
Knowing the line up before hand I knew this was going to be a tough comp, But we endeavoured to represent London and Ghostwriters.

The layout:
10 teams of 2 people
2x 2hour battles (1st battle knockout to finals)
8x16ft walls
Theme given just before the battle
Colours given to the team just before the battle
Judges: ISHAM, BATES, SMASH137

The first battle theme was Shadow and Light, and it didn't take us too long for us to come up with an idea for this. When you're painting with so many writers of such high quality, the pressure gets pretty intense but we cracked through it pretty well I think.

Our piece came out pretty strong I think and then we found out, to our surprise, really late as we managed to miss the announcement, that we were thought to the finals!!

The final Battle:
THE BULLSHITTERS:DASHE&SHANE VS GHOSTWRITERS
The theme for the final battle was Clash, a theme that took us by surprise! But we felt confident. The Bullshitters are an immense crew, personally being a fan of there work so again an honour to be up against them.
This battle was a bit more shake for me not quite sure on the composition but we knew they worked fast so myself and Kaes got to it! I've performed infront of crowds before but this crowd was so intense and right behind us it was a bit shakey, but it was really enjoyable.
The Result: The Bullshitters Won and well deserved!

Overall it was a great weekend and I would definitely do it again. The weekend was filled with much more painting as I will need to do a second post with the rest, so please stay tuned for that.
Much respect to Arnaud and the Epsilone Team for having us, as well as Chloe Mazuel for the photos.
