I've been working on an E,P cover for the last week now and I've literally spent the early morning working my fingers sore!! My eyes are so wide right now!!
I thought I'd post up the development and progress.
The concept that I was approached with was mayhem in London between 3 guys and some transformer like mecha's, burning buildings e.t.c, The first thing I thought of was Company Flow's Funcrusher Plus cover and Lootpacks' Sound Pieces D'antidote!! I'm not running with any of their concepts but I think it was the comic style approach to their covers that made me think about these. But yes I've listend to a lot of both albums for the last 4 hours!
Anywhooo the first thing to do was create a good background, so I came up with a few smallish ideas and chose the better 3 and developed.
After getting a good idea of the tones I choose the best composition, and add the three characters (thumbnail) so I have an idea of how this can work and be developed more to accomodate the
characters.
You can roughly make out where the mecha characters are going to be right?!
Now it's onto the final draft of the environment. Perspective is key for achieving a good structure, so the rulers have been employed as well as my isograph set!
