Typeface in progress

A typeface I’m working on as apart of a project for Black History Month.
I have no name for it yet... But I'm leaning towards something to do with A Tribe Called Quest!

I've drawn Inspiration from West African wood carvings and sculptures. Elements of Caribbean Latin American have no doubt crept in, as there are developments of African art in both places.

Concentration on geometric shapes and angles that are strong features of carvings have been considered.

There is still a lot to do regarding the forms and the characters, ongoing progression will be concentrated around the accents of lines and how they interact with horizontal and vertical forms.

So far I'm happy with it, but my eyes are getting pretty wide and weary!!

New Brush and Some Ink

[Dirty Hands Sticky Fingers]

 [Dirty Habits]

[Anarchy]

[Jeba Loves You]

[Something that Means Something]

I love playing with type and calligraphy. A while ago I bought a new pen.. but just took a while for me to actually get my head down and have a play with it.
Here are some practice pieces, a bit of play with forms, trying to make type that I'm influenced by become my own.
Still further development to go.
