January letters

You know the funny thing is… It doesn't matter how much you sketch, whenever you want to go and paint, you hardly ever want to paint something you've sketched already, you want something fresh! So you sit there itching to paint, flicking through blackbooks, and you just can't find anything that satisfies you completely. Always enjoy painting though. Feels so good to knock out some letters.

GrayCode.

I produced this for a friend, it was my pleasure really, somebody has really good energy so I wanted to work on an image of her that conveys that energy.

A Secret Concept

At the end of last year I was approached to help create a concept for a new establishment. The said establishment is still under development so I am unable to discuss any further but am allowed to share this with you. Here are some of the working pics and progress shots. Once all is launched expect better quality pics and more info.
I can say I was really excited about this and many hours were spent crafting.

A few dubs from last year.

I mentioned before it had been quite busy in and out of the studio last year, hence the lack of updates. But I did get a few moments to get a few letters up.

Aisha- Continuing with experiments

As I mentioned previously I'm working on a new project creating some preliminaries and experiments. So here's a follow on. Not Concentrating at all on composition, I want to get a handle on the textures and how different combinations affect the image. Unlike the first image this is much less reliant on digital colouring/ fill and more on traditional pencil. and then using vector shapes and gradients, contrast enhancements to bring out more of the shadows and highlights.

More experimenting to do.

Bex (Experiment)

Just a quick paint, experimenting with an impasto approach.
I haven't done any speed painting in a while so had a nice Sunday having a play around with brushes.

JEBA's Mixtape for Monorex

I was ecstatic to be asked by Monorex to produce a mixtape at the end of last year. I hope some of you are old enough to remember those times when you wanted to make a mixtape for that person you reserved a little spot for in your life organ. Well wether you are or not this was made with you in mind. I put this together to share tracks that have been influential to me in some way to me during my creative process and generally walking the street.
I also wanted to give a salute to the artist's on the mix, recognising them for there exceptional creativeness. Last but to least I hope you find some inspiration from the tracks for the new year.

Thank you all for your support in the last year, and for the one's before. Thank you to those people that took the time to hit me up, send me an email, and give me words of encouragement. Thanks all to those visiting the blog, just like anyone when they see more site hits, the more it assures me I'm somewhere on the right track. I hope you're all doing something you love in life.

Also find mixes by Tony Riff and Hicks.

Working the New Year into progress

A happy new year to you all. I hope you have all had a good time. I managed to take a bit of time out over the new year to just relax and clear my mind. Definitely a great idea as it ave me a bit of time to separate the voices, it was starting to become orchestral.

Starting the New Year off I would say this is the first official sketch. I mentioned before but I've had some ides for a new journey of work. Tis is the first of preliminary sketches. I'm jumping into getting some experimentation done to further understand the final outcome and the mood i want.
I've been wanting to play around with more traditional drawing methods and with pens, pencils, inks, and implement digital elements/ enhancements, but not as much as I may usually do…

This sketch has started me off investigating in the subject matter within the composition I want to achieve, it's helped me understand a direction I want to go. I'm also excited about he possibilities of execution, and style.

I'll keep you updated with the process, I think there will be some interesting sketches coming out of this.
