JEBA X Major Lazer X Red Bull Music Academy

I was quite excited for the opportunity to jump in on this project. Every year Diplo's Major Lazer colloborate with Red Bull to throw a massive party at the Nottinghill Carnival. They always combine good/ quirky visuals with their amazing ensemble of music.

As much as I would have loved to paint one of the walls that wasn't my task this time round!!

Myself and Tony Riff were set the task of bringing casts of skulls alive (I've got a thing for skulls!), making some ables pop, and then I had the extra job of making some benches look special!!

I do not know why...but Riff had decided to set up camp in a box! He was in his element throughout the duration in his creative box!

The skulls were interesting, we had a variety of small and large ones. The benches however I got really into. I wanted to create some imagery that worked with the simple shape of.. well an elongated box! How do you compliment that?!
Well being that the Major Lazer crew glorify their caribbean and somewhat Southern American influences, I wanted to come up with imagery that worked alongside that. I though a totem pole and wood sculpture inspired approach was the best angle. The colours we had to play with were pretty zany, used properly they compliment each other well.
I also had a bit of a hand from Trips, being a West London local he passed through for dabble.

JEBA X Juno X Boxpark

A week ago myself and InkFetish were invited to take part in a live paint session on the top deck of Shoreditch's Boxpark.

I went for a Geisha holding a bushidi... So it turned out to be a light saver pretty much!
Soon I'll post the original illustration.
